Yeongdo Japanese-style katsu spot with Maldon salt, wasabi, and truffle oil
A small Japanese-style katsu restaurant in the Namhang-dong side of Yeongdo, near the local market and hospital area. Use Yeongdo Namhang Parking for one hour of parking support after asking the restaurant, except on Sundays. Naver booking is available, and walk-in waiting is registered at the Catch Table device by the entrance with the menu selected in advance.
The meal is built around thick fried katsu with a crisp crust and juicy pork. Maldon salt, wasabi, and truffle oil are the best-known accompaniments, and the house kimchi helps reset the palate between fried bites.
Hana katsu uses pork shoulder neck, while Toro katsu uses pork jowl, so both feel more distinctive than a basic loin or tenderloin. The Tonsum Signature combines tenderloin, cheese katsu, and black tiger shrimp in one set. Popular cuts can sell out during weekend lunch, so go early if one specific menu is the goal.
The room has only about six tables, and cooking can take more than fifteen minutes. It has been mentioned in Blue Ribbon since 2024, making it a useful Yeongdo travel-route lunch, solo katsu meal, or casual date, but it is better for one to three people than for a long group dinner.
