Dwaeji Gukbap: Busan’s Pork Soup

About

This restaurant is about three minutes on foot from Exit 17 of Suyeong Station. Drivers can use its dedicated lot across the road, at 116-23 Gwangan-dong. It is separate from Suyeong Park Pork Soup in Busanjin-gu.

The boiled-pork set serves moist, tender pork separately from soup and rice. Try the meat with dried radish or the onion and wasabi sauce, then add chives and thin wheat noodles to the broth. The soup has a clean, mild finish.

The boiled-pork set costs KRW 14,000. Pork soup, sausage soup and offal soup are other choices. Rice normally arrives separately; ask when ordering if you prefer it already in the soup. Extra side dishes come from the self-service counter.

Queues can stretch outside at peak lunch hours. Turnover is fairly quick, but arriving before noon gives more room in the schedule. High chairs are available, and the separate pork-and-soup set works well for a family meal near Suyeong Station.
