Somunnan Hand-cut Kalguksu

소문난손칼국수

Old Oncheonjang kalguksu-alley shop, especially useful for cold kimchi kalguksu in summer

About

An old hand-cut noodle shop in the Oncheonjang kalguksu alley across from Homeplus Dongnae. Kakao lists it as Somunnan Son Kalguksu, while many locals refer to it as the 30-year-tradition hand-cut kalguksu place. There is no confirmed dedicated parking; use the private lot in front or the market parking at your own expense.

The standard kalguksu is a clean anchovy-broth bowl with egg and red seasoning. The broth is deep but not heavy, and regulars often ask for chopped hot pepper when they want a sharper finish. The noodles are not overly thick and absorb the broth well.

In summer, the cold kimchi kalguksu is the strongest reason to come. It is cool, tangy, lightly sweet, and more refreshing than a hot bowl on humid days. Cold soybean kalguksu is another summer option, with a nutty bean broth and a simple salt-seasoned rhythm.

Gimbap is rolled after ordering and works as the side that makes a noodle bowl feel complete. It suits solo meals, shopping-route lunches, dinner with parents, and anyone comparing the Oncheonjang noodle alley without standing in the longest line. The kimchi can vary slightly by day.
