Deokpo local “volleyball-size” milmyeon with huge portions and sweet-savory seasoning
A local milmyeon shop on Sasang-ro in Deokpo, in the Mono Art Academy building. Follow the arrow beside the building to the rear dedicated parking area, which makes it easier than many Busan noodle shops by car. It closes during the winter season, so call ahead when the weather turns cold.
The waiting system is charmingly analog: take a numbered Post-it from the basket and wait for your number to be called. It can fill up at lunch, but noodle turnover is fast, so a visible line does not always mean a long wait. The room has the busy, warm feel of a local favorite, with families, office workers, and solo diners moving through.
The menu is deliberately simple: cold broth milmyeon at KRW 7,000, spicy mixed milmyeon at KRW 8,000, extra noodles at KRW 3,000, and large size for KRW 1,000 more. Even the regular portion arrives as a round mound of noodles big enough to earn the “volleyball milmyeon” nickname. The noodles are a little thicker than many milmyeon bowls, so the chew is part of the pleasure.
The seasoning is the signature. It tastes like fruit and vegetables are doing the work, with a sweet-savory finish instead of harsh heat. Loosen it into the icy broth for a clean, sweet-salty bowl, or go spicy mixed when you want the glossy sauce to cling to the noodles. It is especially strong for a hot-day lunch with friends, family, or coworkers around Sasang and Deokpo.
