Special tendon with a whole fresh conger eel, right by Mangmi Market
A tendon specialist right in front of Mangmi Market, a short walk from Exit 4 of Mangmi Station. The white exterior and small sign read as a Japanese shop, and the inside is mostly counter seating, so it is tight on seats but easy for solo diners. Order at the kiosk by the entrance, then take a seat.
The standard bowl is the Kokamome tendon at KRW 11,500. The batter is thin enough to stay crisp for a long time, and the mix of items makes it fun to work through piece by piece. The sauce leans sweet, which balances once it soaks into the rice, and the soft-cooked egg is meant to be broken and stirred through at the end.
The signature is the special tendon at KRW 18,500, topped with a whole fresh conger eel. It is cut to an easy size and stays soft inside without any muddy taste, and a little ginger cuts the oil. Ebi tendon at KRW 13,500 brings four shrimp that stay springy under a crisp coat, and the sweet-savoury karaage don at KRW 13,500 suits children. Cold soba at KRW 9,500 runs as a summer item.
Miso soup comes as standard and pickled radish and sauces are set at each seat. The Kokamome tomato at KRW 3,500, dressed in a house sweet-and-sour sauce, works as a palate cleanser. Draft beer arrives in a chilled glass and works well with tempura straight from the fryer. Hours are 11:00-20:30 daily with a 15:00-17:00 break and last orders at 14:30 and 20:00. The kitchen can close early once ingredients run out. There is no dedicated parking, so use the Mangmi Market public lot.
