Old Deokcheon Chinese shop with spicy Sichuan jjajang and crisp tangsuyuk
An old Chinese restaurant in the Deokcheon Market alley. There is no dedicated parking, so using the Deokcheon Market parking lot is the most useful approach.
The Sichuan jjajang comes out thick and red, topped with a fried egg. The vegetables almost melt into the sauce, and the heat has a stir-fried jjamppong-like pull.
Gan-jjajang is also peppery instead of sweet, and the tangsuyuk has a thin crisp coating with tender pork inside. The room is small and paced by an older kitchen, so this is a meal to eat without rushing.
Known for: Sichuan jjajang KRW 9,000 · Gan-jjajang · Small sweet-and-sour pork KRW 24,000 · Medium KRW 33,000 · Large KRW 35,000. Expect small changes through the year, so check what is available that day.
