Pastry shop by Yeondong Market, built on white cream mochi and mont blanc
A neighbourhood bakery at 11, Yeondong-ro in Yeonje-gu, tucked against the east gate of Yeondong Market. The shop is small and every loaf sits individually wrapped in a glass case. A notice says they use Lescure Charentes-Poitou butter, and you can smell it the moment the door opens.
The two things it is known for are the white cream mochi and the mont blanc. The cream mochi comes palm-sized with a chewy skin packed full of cream. The mont blanc is a pastry that pulls apart along its layers and is not sweet, so it keeps disappearing. The croissant is crisp outside with the lamination intact, and it is where pastry people should start. The mochi loaf is nutty on the crust and soft inside, fine torn by hand, though they will slice it if you ask.
The range runs wide: olive ciabatta, chestnut loaf, dinner rolls, red-bean buns, roll cake, mango sando, and mango cake. They will also make a bread bouquet. Drinks are sold alongside at low prices with a points card. The lineup keeps growing, so the case looks different between visits.
A baking timetable is posted in the shop. Many items sell out by late afternoon, so come in the morning or reserve ahead if you have something specific in mind. Open 08:30 to 19:00, closed Thursdays. Drive-through and takeaway are available, and delivery runs through Coupang Eats and Baemin on orders over KRW 25,000. Park around the Yeondong Market lot or pull up briefly in front of the shop.
