About

Near Goejeong Market, this long-running bakery fits naturally into a market visit or a western Busan bread tour. It has no dedicated parking, so drivers need a nearby paid lot. Takeaway is the main flow, although tables inside allow customers to eat bread with a drink.

The shop opened as Hyangmidang in 1974 and is now run by the founder’s grandson, master baker Choi Jeong-hun, who studied baking in Japan. It is a designated Century Store, appeared on a Korean TV series about veteran artisans for its 50-year red-bean bun, and has been listed by Blue Ribbon since 2018. More than 100 kinds of bread fill the counter.

The signature bun is split and packed with red beans cooked in-house each day without crushing away their shape. Distinct whole beans, restrained sweetness, and a generous filling keep the heavy portion from becoming cloying. The bun itself is relatively plain, so the filling carries most of the character; milk brings out its mild, nutty flavour better than a strong coffee. A recent account lists it at KRW 3,300 each or two for KRW 6,000.

The old-fashioned cream bun uses a soft bun and custard-like filling, while the apple pie adds crisp layers and cooked-fruit flavour. Loaves and many everyday baked goods broaden the choice, but the display can thin noticeably by late afternoon. Visit earlier for the signatures; the restrained sweetness also makes this an easy snack stop with parents or older family members.
